John Vincent Atanasoff (October 4, 1903 - June 15, 1995) was an American physicist and electrical engineer of Bulgarian descent. In 1973 decision he was confirmed in a patent suit as the inventor of the first automatic electronic digital computer, a machine that has come to be called the Atanasoff-Berry Computer. This statue is outside the Bulgarian Telecommunications Building in Sofia.
