Bi-lingual keyboards are needed when different character sets are used. The Cyrillic alphabet is used six Slavic national languages and is also used by many other languages of Eastern Europe. The alphabet has official status with many organisations. In Bulgaria the development of the Cyrillic alphabet by the holy brothers Cyril and Methodius is celebrated every year on May 24.
