Client was more than happy and later I found the negative but didn't need it! "

"This one's quite an interesting and unique sale, I think. A professional expat dentist in America is using my Australian images in presentations he delivers on the lecture circuit across North America. I've provided a contract, and for US$1500 he can use any Australian image from my library in any of his electronic presentation for a period of 12 months. I've set up a lightbox of just the Ausralian images; he select the ones he wants when he needs them; I format them for display size and resolution and then email them to him. The arrangement seems to work well."

Dave Underwood

"Small as it is, it is finally a sale through Ozimages. This is being used as part of a collage for a brochure with a 1500 print run for national distribution. Quote of $150 was accepted. I know they asked for a lot of quotes so it would be interesting to see what others quoted and won. There wasn't a lot of help from any price calculators I tried, so it was a bit of a stab in the dark. Still, I am happy with the result. I have also had another contact through the site and in July will be doing their family photos."

The request came direct from Signet Enterprises looking to use it at A5 size on the cover of a 20,000 run catalogue. Supplied by email as a press-ready high-grade jpeg, 300dpi. I had not contacted them as I would be out of the country for several weeks; they contacted me to let me know that they had selected 4 of my photos.
This means that 2 months of the 2002 calender will have my photos on it :-)
I joined Ozimages last August and these are my first sales. This pays for about 2 years membership with Ozi, so I am satisfied with it."

Dave Underwood

The client being AAT King Travel (Australia) was happy with my quote of $145AUD for two prints at 30cm x 30cm to be used at a trade fair. Unfortunately, I didn't have a 'Model Release' for this particular photograph so I lost the sale. Therefore, it goes to show that if you can get Model Releases for your shots you'll have a better chance of having saleable images."

Steven Nowakowski

"Sold this one as part of three photo sales to one client, in response to phone call from ozImages client, sale confirmed & paid for within two weeks at $AU 180.00 for small calendar run, required for usage one year lease, print run 5,000 delivery digital format"

"I was contacted by a publisher about using this image on the front of a book. There was a strong indication in my conversation that these people normally use Getty. I did a quick check on what other online libraries would charge and went in at $450.00. They took the image that afternoon. I may have been a little cheap but only by $100.00. Pricing is always a learning process and it also changes all the time. I think the more we share that information the better......"

It was within their budget and more than I was expecting, so all happy. I always ask for payment before supply, this way the onus is on them as to how quickly they want the image. So far this system works well."

"A U.S. client contacted me regarding lifestyle images of ITALY for use in restaurants across the country. The shots had to be non-touristy and supplied on CD as well as sepia-toned prints. This did present a initial challenge since there are several methods for producing successful inkjet-based sepia toned prints. I ended up using a duotone (tritone) based workflow through Photoshop and the (printed) results were stunning. I've recently completed the first order (seven images; 35 prints; one CD) of what I hope to be many to come."

Margaret Secomb

"I have posted this image because it was one of my mistakes. It was the first time I had been contacted through Ozimages for an assignment. I don't know how many other members were contacted but I know at least one and his quote was $A200.00 more than mine. The magazine was a low circulating trade mag in the USA. I told them my rates for portraiture ranged from $A350-$650 depending on usage. They told me they wanted it for the cover and the mag circulated 16,000. I billed them $US450.00 but it should have been $US650.00. I basically charged for the photography and not having to deal with an unknown client having problems with FTP uploads etc. etc. It was a lesson! We all make mistakes and yes I got the job and covered costs and as there was very little in it for me I thought I should share the story so that we could all learn from it. It is a constant battle of vigilance not to undervalue your time and your work. Here endeth the lesson!"

David Hancock

"One of two images sold for use in an A5 calendar - the same calendar for which other OzImages images have been purchased. Sale covers my OzImages membership for another year."

"The buyer told me she came across the image through a search engine which landed her on the "Australian Jetties" niche content page. Just shows how niche content pages can work for you! Thanks to Christine Turner who made this niche content page which included my image."

Caroline Telfer

"I made this sale purely because I was able to offer my client a Lightbox facility so images could be quickly browsed. The Ozimages Lightbox facilitated this sale which otherwise I may have missed. The Wet Tropics Management Authority wanted to see what images I had and I simply made a Lightbox for them and a week later they wanted a price for 30 images for educational and promotional use for the organisation. After discussing their budget a settlement of AUD$3,000 was made which we are both happy with."

Steven Nowakowski
